Having experienced the state of coffee in Paris this last spring, I’m very pleased to see these boys garnering attention. From my poor translation skills I can sense a bit of skepticism from the commentators, but it’s great that they’re forcing the discussion.

Coffee Snobs: FunnyorDie.com “You can order it at Starbucks.” “Am I wearing a green apron? Do you hear Ray Lamontagne playing right now? Are there a bunch of pre-made sandwiches and hard-boiled eggs in that case? Are there a bunch of homeless people waiting in line to use the bathroom? Do you see me writing people’s names down on a paper cup?” “Just so you...

The Best Iced Coffee, From Stumptown to Blue... →
If you’re New York, clearly you don’t have to go far for iced coffee. I, too, am a fan of Stumptown’s “stubbies.”

“We want to take time out this evening to express our love and gratitude for the entire coffee community. We all have varying opinions on a wide variety of topics and our opinions and beliefs should be respected and we should be respectful of one another. One thing is absolutely certain: We are all equal.” Where it all began

Stumptown's Investor Shows Interest in Other...
coffeetopics: TSG Consumer Partners, Stumptown’s investor, also approached Blue Bottle, la Colombe, Counter Culture, Joe. Read about it on the Diner’s Journal. - Oliver Strand Weird. That’s all I gotta say about it. Don’t see how the investor can say that he went to Duane because he believes he’s the best and then make these alleged offers, but “that’s...

Stumptown To Expand
coffeetopics: There’s more on Stumptown over on the Diner’s Journal, and what the coffee company is going to do with the recent investment from TSG Consumer Partners, the private equity group: open a pair of coffee bars in Brooklyn; add a bottling facility for Stumptown “stubbies” in Red Hook; and look to open a roaster in Chicago and another in San Francisco. - Oliver Strand Oh shiii-

Handsome Coffee: A Handsome Wager →
Hi everybody. Starting a roasting company is filled with some exciting developments and milestones. Finding a space, hunting down a roaster, driving a van aimlessly for hours… you know, the usual things. Some milestones more notable than others. Like how starting this week Handsome Coffee will… So who wants to get this for me…?

random-salad answered your question: Differences in roasting I prefer a darker, more carmalizrd roast. I enjoy the smoothness it seems to have. However, I have never really done a true taste test. Interesting! Lately I’ve been feeling more acidic, perhaps brighter (?) tastes in my coffee. I’m really the last person to be able to...

This is such an awesome map. Look at Scandinavia put the U.S. to shame! Actually, a lot of countries are putting the U.S. to shame. Interesting. Not many people know that Scandinavians are serious about their coffee. (Look at tiny Denmark go! Still quite high in comparison to their larger neighbors. I just love Denmark.)

A little more about myself
I split my time between San Francisco, CA, and New York, NY. I’m in New York most of the time. I recently spent a few months abroad in Europe, finding some pretty damn good coffee there too. Needless to say, I’m pretty lucky to be in America’s two best cities in the world for coffee. Questions welcome!
