  2. If you’re New York, clearly you don’t have to go far for iced coffee. I, too, am a fan of Stumptown’s “stubbies.”

Talk about one of the most perfect things to have on a hot New York day. Beware though: as a 12 ounce cold brew, it can get you pretty hopped up on caffeine.

  5. Stumptown’s Investor Shows Interest in Other Coffee Companies

    coffeetopics:

TSG Consumer Partners, Stumptown’s investor, also approached Blue Bottle, la Colombe, Counter Culture, Joe. Read about it on the Diner’s Journal.

    - Oliver Strand

Weird. That’s all I gotta say about it. Don’t see how the investor can say that he went to Duane because he believes he’s the best and then make these alleged offers, but “that’s business,” so they say…

  6. Stumptown To Expand

    coffeetopics:

There’s more on Stumptown over on the Diner’s Journal, and what the coffee company is going to do with the recent investment from TSG Consumer Partners, the private equity group: open a pair of coffee bars in Brooklyn; add a bottling facility for Stumptown “stubbies” in Red Hook; and look to open a roaster in Chicago and another in San Francisco.

    - Oliver Strand

    Oh shiii-

  7. A little more about myself

I split my time between San Francisco, CA, and New York, NY. I’m in New York most of the time. I recently spent a few months abroad in Europe, finding some pretty damn good coffee there too. Needless to say, I’m pretty lucky to be in America’s two best cities in the world for coffee. Questions welcome!

  8. New Orleans Style Iced Coffee (by hereiskaty)You know I’m a bit obsessed when I can easily identify which Blue Bottle location this is right off the bat. Sup Brooklyn?

  9. "Had Gimme! coffee, filter drip, with half and half, at home. Is this the time to talk about coffee? No more Stumptown after they charged me $17.50 for thirteen ounces of whole bean. When I asked why it was so much more than equally delicious Gorilla or Gimme! beans, the guy said, “Well, we really pay attention to quality.” Ouch. I’m so glad to be in the coffee heaven we are in in NYC right now, where you can now get coffee that tastes of the bean and not just the roast, but on my Gimme! bag it actually says, among other things: “Aroma: hot chocolate cake, Italian leather; Body: buttery with chrome-velvet texture,” which just makes me groan and wince."
